The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty they are.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option.
